How do you Choose the Seeds for Your Garden?

Jeremiah 1:5

Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.

When we choose seeds or flowers for our gardens, we choose them for what they can give to us. They must be pretty or fragrant; attract bees or explode with color. They must be the right height or perhaps a spreading flower. Maybe we are looking for flowers that provide shade or attract humming birds. So we plant them and wait. If we don’t like them we can always uproot them.

But God already knows what we will be before we are fully in bloom. He knew before the creation of the world. Before He formed us in our mother’s womb; he knew us. He knows the number of hairs on our head. When He chose us He knew what we would look like; how tall we would be; how loving we would be; what our hearts would dersire; when we would accept His gift of salvation…the list is endless.

We have to have faith that the picture on our seed packages will match what grows after it is planted but God knows what the flower will look like before it grows; He created the seed. And God won’t be surprised at how we turn out because He created us. Once God chooses us (yes, He chooses us…isn’t that incredible?), He doesn’t uproot us; He prunes us. He will never uproot us once we’re “planted” in Him. His promise is perfect…once we’re His, we’re guaranteed a place in Heaven with Him. He’s preparing a room for us right now and I like to think, for those of us who have a great love for the beauty of a flower, that He is planting a garden for us more beautiful than we could ever imagine.
